This is the first blog on this new wordpress-page I just set up on my rootsconnection.ch site. It’s too easy done, but there is not that kind of freedom in doing what you guess. Too much is done by wordpress and those templates. On one hand I don’t have to code anything on the other hand I don’t have full control over it. Maybe it’s good I don’t have the full control. I hope you’ll enjoy to surf by from time to time and find more and more exclusive content from my personal collection.
First of all I want to livicate this page to my godson Dimitri who is 17 years today. Happy birthday!
Flute em shock um remix, released right here on november 26, 2022
This tune is called: Flute em shock um remix and is made on the 26th of november 2022. And how? 19th of november 2022 I went up to Sedel to our bands rehearsal cells to record one track into the microphone while the tune was playing loud. With Amadeus Pro on my very old MacBook Pro I recorded the flute with the music on one track. Then I took the headphones and played with very low music three more flute tracks and one bongo track. Today I found two tracks of flute, that are quite ok. I isolated those two tracks and put it onto garageband to filter it with different premixed echo-delay-effects. After that I put the original track with those two remixed flute tracks together and cut off all notes, that are not necessary. Something like that.
Beware: This mix is flute forwarded. If you have some troubles with flute, don’t let it play. If you’re expecting some professional flute stuff, you’re also wrong here. Haha…
The tune itself is taken from “In a different style” entitled “Rock um to shock um (Return Of The Prince Of Peace)” by House Of Rhythm from 1996.
My double CD of this album is here on discogs https://www.discogs.com/de/release/1411705-House-Of-Rhythm-In-A-Different-Style
This same tune I have already played years ago.

The first time I played this tune live. It was the release party of this album: https://www.discogs.com/de/release/4631859-Various-Skampler-3
Shame & Skandal Family was the band at that time where my old friends from Peacestreet and later Der Transformer where featured on that Skampler 3 compilation and on stage at this party. But I wasn’t playing with the band on this set, so I asked Benno (the producer of the album) to play a little intermezzo between two bands. I took my CD from House Of Rhythm (In a different style) and gave it to the house mixer. I went on stage with my flute and my strange outfit and gave the mixer the sign to start the CD. When I saw all those people (about 300 and full packed) I was scared. All alone in front of them, with my flute. I was so scared I didn’t play the flute but took the microphone and started to rap. I have no idea what and how, but the audience was fully focused on me (while the stage was prepared for the next group). After a minute I took the flute and started to play wild. It’s just a far away memory, but I guess it was quite cool. To me it was unforgettable. And maybe it’s better to have no recording but this picture only.
I don’t remember much more but this. And now after all these years, that same tune came over me. I love it without the flute. That is a fact. But this new mix today is wild enough to take one or two listen to it. I heard it already about 10 times… poor I.
Of course, I have no right to play that tune of the House Of Rhythm band. But they are friends and I guess, they won’t hate me for using it like that. It was in 1993 when I first met Jeff Lucas. I invited Maroon Town to play at Schuur in Luzern. Then in 1995 I invited House Of Rhythm to Luzern to play at Sedel. Real friends we became in 1996 on the Skasplash tour all over Europe. As DJ and helping hand on this amazing tour I was one month in the same van with House Of Rhythm. But there is even more connections with Jeff, because I was invited to DJ on an indian wedding in Leicester, England. And yes, Jeff was there too. And after three days he drove me back to London. 20 years later we discussed on the Skasplash-blog (see above underneath the Skasplash-link).
I can’t find Jeff anymore on facebook to ask, if this post is ok and the use of his tune should be no problem. I hope so. Otherwise, I take this tune from this page.
Every feedback is very welcomed. Thanks in advance. I’ll try to post from time to time other tunes with other stories…
Yours
Ras Claude
Are there more tunes to come?
Oh hi Serge
Yes, there are more tunes to come. Not in a regularly matter, but from time to time…
