The Gladiators live in concert at the Zuchwil Open Air, Sunday, 22nd of June 1986
The first Gladiators show in Zurich (at GZ Heuried) was amazing. But this one kept in mind, soul and body.
This samples from the live show can’t transport the dynamic of the show. It was starting with my cousin Daniel who told my brother and me about that Openair near his home: Olten. My parents went with my brother and me to Olten to my mothers sister and her family. Daniel, Roger and I went in Daniels car to Zuchwil (a little village near Solothurn).
It was a very hot summer day. The sun was burning hot. I don’t remember any of the other groups that played, but the audience was cooled down with big cold water fountain. I don’t like that, but many people went there. Nobody wear a lot of clothes. But it was also boring because we only went there for The Gladiators, but all other bands didn’t play any kind of Reggae but Pop or Rock. After a long while, I saw some dark skinned men way behind all. Yes, them The Gladiators. Look at them in their long dark jeans and long shirts, hats. What a great picture. Today I would say, it looked like The Harder They Fall.
While The Gladiators were playing live, Albert Griffiths was nerved because there was a line feedback and the engineer didn’t manage it. Mr. Engineer was said into the tune. And the horrible piiip was sounding into some tunes.
The vocal harmonies were exquisit and lovely, but Albert was flashed into bad mood. And before the show was finished, they had to stop, because the time was late. It was ridiculous. I was ashamed by the local management.

[…] A few months later there was a second opportunity to see The Gladiators again. And that show was different, but also great (Openair Zuchwil). […]
