Bim Skala Bim live at Sedel Sun, 02-July-1995
Unbelievable but true. Sunday shows in Sedel? Impossible. But I don’t care. Mission Impossible? Great!
This is such a great one. Bim Skala Bim is not in the charts, but from Boston and that means a lot. I invited Sämi Hofmann to be DJ Sam Frandisco. Because it’s Sunday, the show starts early.
My budget is very low and I ask Jackie Song to help me. With a very low budget he cooks a great diner for the whole band up in the piano bar at Sedel. But he is not only the cook for the band, he is also the entertainer. And they have a great time in the backstage (at that time, the ordinary backstage was occupied).
All the event is like something strange in my mind. Again, I have not one picture of that event. But I remember to be interviewed by Charles Schum. I guess I have nothing seen of the concert itself. That makes me a bit sad, because it was fantastic and the audience was sweat and happy.
Still I have some great souvenirs. Like this recording, where Dan Vitale introduces Jackie Song as not only their cook, but as Tap dancer. Again, Jackie in his own right is performing with Bim Skala Bim live with his tap shoes. And one tune to illustrate who powerful Bim Skala Bim mashed up the place.
The dance craze is a melting pot on that Sunday night. The Club is full. What a great audience – what a great band. Thanks Bim Skala Bim for that amazing show.
And in the Peacestreet guestbook, there is a nice page done by Bim Skala Bim.
Jackie Song is an old friend of mine.
The next day was a bit lousy from my side, because I ordered rooms for the band at Hotel Pickwick without breakfast (at that time, this hotel had no rooms with breakfast, but I didn’t know). I booked because it was cheap. But after such a great evening to let the band leave without breakfast… it was too bad. I still feel ashamed.
