This event is deeply in memory as one of the most powerful concerts I’ve every visited.

The first act was Misty In Roots with horns. Everything was deep roots. And then Culture with a horn section … Cedric IM Brooks, Deadly Headly … the sound was just amazing and then the three singer with Joseph Hill in lead.

I’m not very sure about the members of the band. Joseph Hill is introducing them all, but some only with short names and sometimes the name is said in a noisy moment. But as far as I understood: Georgie on trumpet, Deadly Headly on alto saxophone, Cedric IM Brooks on tenor saxophone, Bubbler on keyboards, Jackie on guitar, Bongo Natty on percussion, Peter on lead guitar, Facon on drums, Brother Fish on bass and Kenneth Dayes and Albert Walker as backing vocalists.

You can listen to some samples I’ve recorded then from the audience. The quality is very poor, but as a memory and a little insight into one of the very best live performances I’ve ever seen. The last track in the list is instrumental Death In The Arena in full length.

Here are some exclusive pictures made by Marc Tourchaninoff better known as NoF-NoF. At that time I didn’t know NoF-NoF yet. My first meeting was in 1992 (see NoF-NoF session with DJ Clat at Case à Chocs 1992). Thanks to NoF-NoF for these great pictures.

I remember not too much. Maybe I’ll find more background some day. But for now, that’s it.

There is a video from this time I’ve found at Facebook.

Another great video of a Culture concert in Israel in 1986 can be found on YouTube:
