I remember Pablo Moses not as a friendly showmaster. It looked to me, as he’s angry about everything. But maybe it was just too cold. Or whatever. The sound was fantastic and I enjoyed a lot. Because it was a Thursday night, I had not long after the show to stay and enjoy the Roots Operator sound system. The concrete room (GZ is a community centre) was cold and lifeless. I wasn’t extremely full, but there were enough people. I remember, my brother Roger took me down in the centre of the audience. That was not as comfortable as sitting on the stairs around the middle, but it was more the live feeling. I enjoyed a lot and the recording isn’t too bad.

The recording is full of interruptions by my brother Roger, his friend and some of myself. There is almost no clean track, but I’ve found some nice parts to share. “Dubbing Is A Must” I already new from the “A Song” album. The show started with an instrumental medley. Two new hits have been performed, but one of them just started at the end of the cassette. I had to turn the sides, but missed the moment. It’s only a little but recorded, after years I’ve found out, what it was. And the other is “I Man A Grasshopper”. “Blood Money”. “Give I Fe I Name” and “A Step Before Hell” from “Pave The Way” (this album I never bought, because my brothers friend had it and he never copied it for me and my brother, on the other hand, my brother and me copied almost all new collection items for him; an other story in another context, fact is, I didn’t know “Proverbs Extraction”, “Pave The Way” and “A Step Before Hell” that he played live and know only the live versions)

The introduction of the band is quite difficult to understand, but I guess, the musicians came from the USA. For example there was Caspar on bass, someone like Ellis on drums and Michael on piano. I didn’t like the bass sound, it was too metallic for me.

The sound was very different from other roots reggae live acts. It was modern and rocky. The lead guitar and the keyboard could be in a rock or pop band. But like that, Pablo Moses stand strong for another type of reggae, quite heavy. I love it.
