Burning Spear live 1984 Volkshaus, Zurich

Burning Spear live in concert on Monday, 2nd of February 1984 at Volkshaus in Zurich

This is a very short moment of the concert. I don’t know what was wrong with the recording, why it was that bad. But Door Peep was a monster version of more than 10 minutes.

The lady horn section wasn’t as brilliant as the Bobby Ellis horn section my brother Roger saw in 1981 or was ist 1982? For sure, this was my very first Burning Spear show. Ten years later I was side by side with Winston Rodney (in Lyon).

It was a time where the power of the show was too much. The smoke and the audience was kind of an overkill for me. I had to sit down. While my brother and his friend were around me, I was on the ground. I was recording with my Sony Walkman.

Maybe I took an old cassette (not an empty new one). That’s why the quality is that bad. But it shows a little bit of that power inside the audience.

Maybe this picture is taken from the 1987 show. I have no proof.

I never made a full set list from the Volkshaus show. I identified Pick Up The Pieces, Queen Of The Mountain, Rocking Time, Weeping & Wailing, Slavery Days, This Race, Door Peep. These tunes are on the tape in this order, but I also remember them played Repatriation. That was still in my brain on the travel home after the concert.
